I have decided to take the bull by the horns and combat the effect stress has on my body. Even though I have written a book about this subject (DeStress The Mess-Minimizing the Impact of Stress on Your Body- Maximize The Joy!") I still need to remind myself to take my own advice!

Stress is the one of the top causes of chronic disease and health problems.  There have been many books written on how to combat stress.  Many of these books have great tips to help you organize your life, prioritize your to do list, improve your time management skills, learn how to say "no" and so on.  While these are useful tips and many of them can help reduces stress, what do you do if you are going through a stressful period in your life.   What if, your are just in the stressed zone for a bit.  I am convinced that no matter how organized we are, no matter how well we manage our time and learn to say "no" we will still have stress.  What we need to ask is, how can I protect my body from the rigors of stress? 5 Ways to Decrease Your Anxiety and Increase Your Health and Wellness

I suffered from anxiety for years. I was so used to feeling anxious and worried all the time that I didn't even know anything was wrong. I thought everyone felt that way!

It was not until I had an "episode" of crying for almost 24 hours ( about 5 years ago) that I decided it was time for me to do  something about it.  Mind you, I still had to be talked into going to a Doctor to have myself checked out, but deep down when I had the crying fit, I knew I needed help.

Long story short, I was diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder with Mild Depression. They put me on some medication that made me gain 15 pounds and also increased my anxiety.  I started doing my own research and basically learned how to manage my anxiety.

Five years later, I am almost anxiety free.  I still get those feelings every now and then, but I have learned through exercises, diet, meditation, and self-love  that I don't have to suffer in silence any more.
