Indoor Weight Loss Options - How To Fight That Winter Weight Gain!!

There are days when we just don't want to get out there and move.  It might be cold, wet, or perhaps too sunny and hot.  Whatever the weather there is a way to still move and keep that weight from piling on.

I have always felt that if I move at least 30 minutes a day I will keep my weight down and stay in shape.   For the most part this is true but it take so much more than just 30 minutes a day.  It takes maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  The good news is that attaining a healthy lifestyle is not has difficult as it might seem, especially when you have access to great resources and advice.

I just recently participated in a great 2015 Weight Loss Summit.  We had over 40 experts in the weight loss fields that shared some really great and different information we need to know to loose and keep those unwanted pounds off!

Here are some of the comments from the 2015 Weight Loss Summit

"My aha moments for today. Are you kidding me? I can’t even put my finger on that one today. Do I …

Yoga Moves That Improve Thyroid Health - Sharing Along Your Journey To Wellness

goggle images
This morning I woke up and immediately felt that "thing".  It is a feeling that feels like "anxiousness". It is very uncomfortable.  About 15 years ago, I couldn't even put a name to this feeling.  I really thought this is how all women feel when they wake up in the morning.  It feels like going straight down in a roller coaster with no restraints.  Back in the day, 15 years ago,  the only way I could stop the feeling was to have a cup of coffee.

Now, I know that part of that "anxious" feeling comes from an imbalance in my thyroid.  After going to my Doctor and also spending time with a good Therapist I have learned how to manage this feeling by improving my thyroid health.

Taking care of your thyroid health is critical. A balanced, optimally functioning thyroid is important to maintain a healthy metabolic rate, cardiovascular system, hormone production, glucose, protein, bone and cholesterol metabolism, red blood cell production, and …

Embrace Your Gray...I have! I Had No CHOICE!

About  10 years ago I found out that I am allergic to hair dye.  Allllll hair dye.  When use hair dye I break out all over my face, my face swells to almost twice its size, and my scalp oozes.  It is not pretty...I look like a Startrak character.   Believe me I tried to get rid of my gray using all kinds of methods.   I was furious that I didn't have a choice in the matter and that over time I would be walking around looking old before  my time.  Boy did I have a "poor me" day when I finally decided that I had to find a way to live with myself gray hair and all.

After about a year of no dye, I began to have a surprising experience.  I was beginning to get more compliments with GRAY HAIR!!  I couldn't believe it.  People were coming up to me to tell me they loved my hair.  I even had one person come to me and ask me where did I go to get the gray streaks in my hair.  I mean really...SERIOUSLY?  I thought who would elect to be gray, who would put gray streaks in their…

Prayer and Meditation - What is the difference? How It Can Help You With Your Wellness Journey

I have found such value in getting silent and spending time in meditation and prayer.  It is so important in a world that is fast paced, full of confusion, and busy with a constant bombardment of the senses, that we take out time to get silent and listen to that inner voice.  This inner voice can truly lead, guide and direct you throughout your day...throughout your life.

I truly believe through prayer ( making our request known to our Creator) and through meditation (listening to that voice the Creator has placed within all of us)that you can truly get the answers to life that you seek.  Sometimes they come immediately but mostly for me these answers come over time.

I have made it my priority to start each day with meditation and prayer.  To take time during the course of the day to stop, even if it is for five minutes, and just be silent and listen to that inner voice.

I am grateful that God (who I consider my Creator) has placed that wonderful inner voice within me (a voice I c…

Beyond Meds - A Testimony of Bravery in The Midst of Psychiatric Drug Withdrawl

In our society today we have many people who are suffering from various forms of emotional and/or mental illnesses.  Many times rather than get to the root of what is causing these issues Doctors prescribe medications and patients agree to take them without really knowing what the side effects may be after long term use.  The scary thing is that the term "long term use" doesn't necessarily mean years and some cases these drugs are only meant to be used 2 to 4 weeks, yet Doctors allow patients to take these kind of drugs for years. Join me and Monica Cassani, creator of the popular blog Beyond Meds as she shares with us her remarkable story and subsequent journey to recover from protracted psychiatric drug withdrawal. Monica Cassani has seen the system from both sides – as a social worker and as a person whose life was severely ruptured by psychiatric drugs. An amazing, inspiring  and very important broadcast that you don't want to miss!

I recently had a great conversation with Karen Koenig, LCSW, M.ED about emotional eating.  Karen is an expert on the topic of emotional eating and has written six books about emotional eating.  One of the things she said about emotional eating was "The reason you turn to food when you’re stressed or distressed is that you don’t have better ways of managing life’s ups and can transform your eating habits — and your life" (click here to listen to an interview I did with her regarding emotional eating "The Wellness Journey-LIVE!)
