Foods to Boost Your Man's Health and Wellness

As a nation our health is declining. It is important for us to start proactively doing what we can to take better care of our temples. While women’s health is important and that is what I usually write about, I thought it would be good to make sure we are taking care of our Men as well. There are certain foods that are especially good for Men to eat EVERYDAY in order to stay healthy and well. If you can get the Men in your life to eat these foods daily they will not only feel better they will look better too!

•Lots of Fruits and Vegetables - at least five servings a day. This is important because they are rich in magnesium. Raisins, soy beans, beets, dates are all foods that are rich in fiber and will keep you “regular” if you get my meaning. Nothing is worse than a Man walking around not having had his regular bowel movement for the day.

•Eat plenty of fiber – A Man needs at least 2.5 grams of fiber a day. Artichokes, lima beans, soybeans, grapefruit, certain berries and whole grains are a great source of fiber. When eating bread look for “100% wheat” stay away from white bread.

•Keep The blood Pressure Low – Eat plenty of food with foliates. Spinach, orange juice, dark leafy vegetables are all high in foliates. Men need 800 milligrams a day so perhaps a supplement will do the trick. The important point is to get your foliate. Food rich in foliates helps to lower your blood pressure and decreases your risk of getting cancer

•This Fruit Will Improve Your Health
– Tomatoes – yes tomatoes are a fruit – they are full of nutrients that Men need every day. Tomatoes help prevent impotence, wrinkled skin, heart disease and prevents stroke. Men need to eat the equivalent of 165 raw tomatoes a week. But that might be over kill so if he can have about 10 tables spoons of tomato sauce a week that will do it!

•For You Male Pasta Lovers – if you eat almonds and nuts before a big plate of pasta, or corn on the cob, it will help your digestive system break down the sugar properly in these foods. Men need to be extra careful at watching their blood sugar levels.

•OK, it's not a food, but - Dr. Oz calls it the "true magic pill." See your doctor first, but he recommends Men over 35 should take two baby aspirin a day to help prevent heart disease and cancer.

•Three Times A Week
– that’s how many times Men should eat fish. Salmon is best because it is rich in Omega 3 which is extremely heart healthy. Other fish that are high in Omega 3 are tilapia, flounder, cod and mahi-mahi.

•Fluids – It is important to drink at least 64 ounces of fluid a day. Water is the best, but any fluid is better than none – alcoholic beverages don’t count.

*Vitamin D – the best source is from sunshine, but you also have to think about skin damage. One solution is to get Orange Juice fortified with Vitamin D and of course a large glass of milk will also give you the necessary requirement of Vitamin D

•Can you believe it?!- Coffee! Yes according Dr. Oz , coffee is very good for preventing liver cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. Dr. Oz suggest 24 ounces a day. I am not sure if I agree with that but I do think that if you do 24 ounces of coffee a day you may want to make some of those ounces decaffeinated!
