What Do You Do To Feed Your Soul?

What do you do to feed your soul?

Is it healthy foods to fuel your body, a self-care routine that you commit to, dedicating time to a yoga practice or a walk in nature?

Whatever it is, we as women tend to put ourselves on the backburner when it comes to everyone else in our lives. We want to be the main character in our own story, while still caring for others. We have to cherish ourselves and love ourselves before we can give to anyone else. I believe that we as women can realize it’s time to put ourselves first at any age.

When I turned 50, I realized that I was spiritually drained, among other negative emotions and menopausal symptoms I was going through. I seemed okay on the outside but on the inside, I was running on a low-battery for a long time. At some point we have to ask ourselves: Who am I? What is my purpose? How do I begin enjoying life again like when I was a kid?  Carefree and ready for adventure.

Here are some tips from the book "The Four Agreements" By Don Miguel Ruiz:

Agreement 1: Be Impeccable with Your Word: “Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.”

Agreement 2: Don’t Take Anything Personally “Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.”

Agreement 3: Don’t Make Assumptions “Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.”

Agreement 4: Always do your best “Your best is going to change from moment to moment, it will be different when you are tired as opposed to well-rested. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.”

When was the last time you completely unplugged? Work can start to creep into life and you lose focus on yourself. You don’t call certain friends or loved ones, and then start to make assumptions about why you didn’t call them and makeup scenarios in your head.
